• ' Last week was Reading week at Ruskin- students chose their reading books and as the nights begin to draw in and we all start to seek warmth and comfort, I am reminded of the words of C. S. Lewis who said: "You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough". Winter is the perfect opportunity for students to lose themselves in the fictional worlds they have chosen. As well as reading their own personal books choices, students have also been reading a range of articles and extracts linked to their subject areas – some examples include remembering Dolly Parton as a performer in Performing Arts, 'The Treaty of Versailles' in History and in English students read about the success of the new film 'The Odyssey'. We are already looking forward to the next one!

• - TOMORROW! We are delighted to be hosting a coffee morning in support of the wonderful Macmillan Cancer Support TOMORROW, 9.45am - 11.20am. This has always been a successful fundraising event and a fantastic opportunity to welcome new parents into the Ruskin community. We would be very grateful for donations of cakes and raffle prizes. : Shop-bought cakes must be sealed in their original packaging with an ingredients label. Home-baked cakes should be accompanied by a list of ingredients and an understanding that they cannot be guaranteed as nut-free. Thank you for your support.
